Celebrating talent – staff awards

BiP Solutions is proud to announce our quarterly staff recognition award winners.

Our quarterly awards recognise staff excellence across our teams, with the team members nominated by colleagues.

We have three awards which celebrate staff throughout the company over the last quarter: the Sales Excellence Award, to recognise and celebrate exceptional sales performance, an Outstanding Performance Award, to recognise and celebrate exceptional performance, and our Values Award, which is open to all colleagues across the business and is designed to specifically recognise and celebrate colleagues who demonstrate positive behaviours in line with our values.

Once again, the quality of nominations received across each category was exceptional, and the spread of nominations across the different teams in the business, from old colleagues to those who have recently joined us, was impressive.  A great effort from all as always!

This quarter, our winner of the Sales Excellence Award was Dawn MacTaggart.

Dawn’s line manager Alan McMenemy, Head of Sales in Glasgow, said: “Dawn was nominated for this award for many reasons. First and foremost, she’s hit her quarterly target, and hit target for each individual month as well. She also navigated her way around a two-week break in the middle of the quarter and managed her own pipeline effectively to allow for this. Dawn has also been an early adopter of our new BI product suite, and got the first HCI, Tracker-Pro and Contact Data sales. She’s been able to do this by fully investing and immersing herself in the products. Dawn also led the line at P4H and Procurex Scotland, and delivered keynote speeches at both. Last, but not least, Dawn has been really open to coaching and adapting her style to GAP methodology over the past three months. An outstanding nomination for, and worthy winner of, our Q2 Sales Recognition Award.”

Well done, Dawn! Very well deserved.

Our second winner was our lovely Event Coordinator Mhairi MacNeil who won the Outstanding Performance Award.

Mhairi’s line manager, Laura Aitkenhead, had a few words to say: “Mhairi moved into a new role in the Events Team only three weeks before the start of our event season in Q2. The job and skill set are very different to her previous role, but Mhairi jumped straight in and picked up the GO Awards Scotland and Wales, showing a passion for these projects, and a commitment to making them the best events possible. She worked with stakeholders across the business to ensure all requirements were met, showing, after only a short space of time, a clear understanding of the key aspects of this new role. Mhairi really stepped up to the mark and I’m delighted to have her as Co-Ordinator in the Events Team”

Congratulations, Mhairi!

The final winner of our Q2 Awards was Rob Atherton, who was the worthy winner of the Values Award.

Rob’s line manager, Grahame Steed, said: “Rob is a highly deserving recipient of the Values award. He exemplifies our values with his consistently high level of professionalism and openness – whether dealing with external clients or colleagues. He is always willing to embrace change and try new approaches. He is also an excellent content creator who supports his colleagues and strives to deliver outstanding results. Anyone that works with Rob has only positive things to say about their experience, so it’s great to see this recognised.”

Well done, Rob!

The quarterly winners will go through to our finale, held at the annual staff awards dinner, where our overall winners will be crowned.

We look forward to seeing the nominations for next quarter.

20 years of the GO Awards

Celebrating public procurement professionals – the 2022/23 procurement awards season is GO!

The 2022/23 GO Awards season is underway, and this year BiP Solutions is proud to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the awards, which were established in 2002 with the aim of recognising excellence in public procurement across the UK.

The first event this season will be the GO Awards Scotland this autumn, shortly followed by the GO Awards Wales. Celebrating 20 years

Having worked extensively in public procurement since it was founded in 1984, BiP established the GO Awards as a means of showcasing best practice from organisations across the public, private and third sectors, especially those whose innovations, initiatives and advancements in the delivery of public services have helped to make the UK a world leader in smart and effective procurement.

We’re delighted to announce the launch of GO Awards Scotland 2022/23, alongside an exciting new website, we've also launched our 22/23 categories.

Even before the events of the past couple of years, procurement was rapidly evolving as part of its transformation from back-office function to strategic player. Then it became front page news as the COVID-19 pandemic took hold, and even as we head back towards normality, public service delivery will be at the forefront of the economic recovery.

That’s why, 20 years on from its beginning, the GO Awards is now more important than ever before, and has gone on to become the leading public procurement excellence awards in the UK, where the standard of entries continues to rise every year.

New awards

The GO Awards has a range of categories, recognising achievements in everything from contract delivery to COVID-19 response. To mark its 20th anniversary, and to keep in line with the latest evolution in procurement, four new categories have been launched for Scotland and Wales:

  • Best Net Zero Initiative
  • Contract and Supplier Management
  • Supply Chain Diversity
  • Collaborative Procurement Initiative

The big night will then take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Glasgow on Thursday 27 October 2022.

For Wales, entries will close on 21 September, with the GO Awards Wales being hosted at the Mercure Hotel in Cardiff on Tuesday 8 November 2022.

The power of procurement ‒ GO Awards 2022

Celebrating procurement across the UK at the UK National GO Awards.

May 25th saw the procurement community from across the UK come together to celebrate the achievements they have realised over the past year at the National GO Awards.

The well-established GO Awards bring together the best procurement has to offer, for a night of recognition and celebration of the people and teams who make it happen.

These Awards celebrate people and teams from across the entire UK, with many of our finalists previously successful in the GO Awards Northern Ireland, Wales or Scotland.

It was not just all about procurement, as our guests were entertained by the mind-bending Graham P Jolley!

Procurement in the spotlight

The profile of public procurement has never been higher. This is an area of massive strategic and operational importance with influence over billions of pounds of public money and many millions of lives. Recent events have underlined just how critical it is.

This year’s nominations included some amazing, transformative projects, as well as responses to the pandemic. In their deliberations, the judges commented how impressed they were with the calibre of projects that had been nominated and what a difficult time they had deciding on the winners – which was confirmed by the number of Highly Commended awards that were presented on the night.

Judges for the Awards boasted a huge amount of procurement experience from across the UK and the entire public sector: Preeya Bailey, John Coyne, Nick Ford, Ying Han, Tracy Harrison, Alison Lisett, Jane Lynch, Eddie Regan, Steven Sinclair, Grahame Steed and Keri Wilkins.

EXCEL-lent nominations

With 14 awards categories, and a final award presented to the overall winner, it was a packed night for procurement. The categories were closely contested, and the overall winner showed just what a difference procurement can make to society.

The overall winner of the GO Excellence Award was Scotland Excel for its New Build Residential Construction project, which so far has created 2800 affordable homes across Scotland

Having consulted extensively with local authorities and the market, Scotland Excel established a framework agreement that constituted an efficient, comprehensive and quick route to market for buyers.

In addition, the winning project focused not only on social value but on environmental sustainability ‒ including energy efficiency and offsite construction ‒ to enable framework users to procure gold and silver standard homes, all at an affordable price.

Partners have received an approximately 300% return on investment and the project has exceeded its savings target by 40% ‒ so affordable, green and a creator of savings. A thoroughly deserved winner!

A full list of winners can be found here.

Inspiring examples

Simon Tse, Chief Executive ‒ Crown Commercial Service, commented on the Awards:

The importance of public sector procurement has been in the spotlight during this crisis. I have seen some inspiring examples of innovation, speed of action and dedication. Each year the GO Awards feature yet more remarkable features of customer service, collaboration and creativity. As always at this event, we will celebrate and share what we have learned.”

Stand with Ukraine

The night was not all about celebration. Standing with Ukraine, BiP Solutions held a raffle in aid of the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. With some amazing prizes on offer, including: a Tyson Fury boxing glove, kindly donated by BiP Solutions, two bottles of champagne donated by the NEC, an overnight stay at the Hilton and three Executive Club tickets for Manchester United, the raffle and donations throughout the night raised an amazing £3250.
