Prime procurement and business intelligence organisation BiP Solutions has announced that Les Mosco, former MOD Commercial Director, has joined the business as Special Advisor.
Les joins BiP’s Strategic Advisory Board following seven years as the most senior procurement professional within the Ministry of Defence.
As Commercial Director of Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) – the MOD’s bespoke trading entity – Les managed up to 2500 staff and directed £20bn annual spend on acquisition, ranging from simple consumables to uniquely sophisticated military equipment.
In his role as Special Advisor, Les will provide BiP Solutions with guidance on its strategic direction and future growth opportunities, particularly in the defence industry.
As the official publisher of MOD contract opportunities since 1997 via MOD Defence Contracts Bulletin magazine and, more recently, via the Defence Contracts Online portal, BiP is already a leader in the defence procurement market.
The appointment of the MOD’s formerly most senior procurement professional to the company’s Advisory Board will build on this well-established reputation.
Les joins David Smith CB FCIPS and Professor Duncan Eaton on BiP’s Strategic Advisory Board.

Les said: “I’m delighted to be working as a Special Advisor to BiP. I bring my wide experience from 40 years senior procurement, supply chain and commercial roles, in the public and private sector and in different industries.
“I’ve used BiP services, most recently in my last role as the Ministry of Defence Commercial Director, where BiP managed Defence Contracts Online, conferences and other procurement services. I currently work a portfolio of Non-Executive Director and advisory roles, consultancy and charity and hope that my experience and network will allow me to give useful input to BiP.”
