Hilltown Homes Tender

New modern homes in a near £10 million project could soon be rising on the land where there multi-storey blocks at Alexander Street were demolished.Government Opportunities

A report to the city council’s neighbourhood services committee (Monday April 25) outlines tenders received for the joint Hillcrest Housing Association and Dundee City Council  development.

Councillors will be asked to approve a tender for the council’s contribution at £4,622,720 for Hart Builders. The total project cost would be just over £9,500,000 and work would start this summer.

The council’s part of the 81-home project would provide 33 units.

This consist of 10/2-bedroom, 8/3-bedroom and 2/4-bedroom houses, There will also be 9/2-bedroom flats and 4 wheelchair units (2/3-bedroom, 2/4-bedroom).

Neighbourhood services convener Councillor John Alexander said:

“This is a major step forward on the exciting journey to redevelop and regenerate the Hilltown.

These will be quality new affordable homes and I am pleased that our partnership with Hillcrest is to deliver a tremendous boost for the area and its people.

Plans for a school campus with community facilities are progressing and there were plans recently displayed to the public and both Rosebank and Our Lady’s primaries.

The area will also benefit from an NHS facility which is also planned for the Alexander Street site.”

Councillor Alexander added:

“This new housing is an crucial development for the future which will help improve the area place for people to live and businesses to grow.”
