Businesses throughout the Scottish Highlands are invited to pick up ideas from environmental champions at a special event to celebrate the launch of the 2016 Vision in Business for the Environment of Scotland (VIBES) Awards.Government Opportunities

The free event on Tuesday 3rd May will provide businesses with the opportunity to hear directly from previous VIBES champions in the area including past winner Hambleside Danelaw and Clearfleau which was a finalist for the Co-operation Award with Diageo in 2015.

Now in its 17th year, VIBES recognises and rewards companies employing environmental best practice in their daily activity to cut down on resource use, increase sustainability, improve reputation, enhance competitiveness, support wider sustainable developments and benefit their company’s bottom-line.

The awards, which are free to enter, are open to businesses of all sizes and sectors and offer an excellent platform for businesses to showcase their green credentials.

The event is part of a series of free sessions to be held across the country and is designed to offer local businesses the opportunity to gain insight and experience from previous VIBES winners and finalists. As well as hearing from Hambleside Danelaw and Clearfleau, attendees at the launch event will also pick up tips and advice from the team at VIBES.

VIBES is a strategic partnership between Scottish Environment Protection Agency, Scottish Government, Scottish Water, Scottish Enterprise, Highland and Islands Enterprise, Zero Waste Scotland, Energy Saving Trust and Scotland’s 2020 Climate Group. The Awards are further supported by CBI Scotland, the Institute of Directors, the Federation of Small Businesses, Bright Green Business and Quality Scotland.

Applications for this year’s awards will open on Thursday 21st April and will close at 5pm on Thursday 30th June.

The VIBES launch event will take place on Tuesday 3rd May from 4.30-7pm at Highland Council Headquarters – Glenurquhart Road, Inverness, IV3 5NX.

Gillian Bruce, chair of the VIBES Awards, said:

“The VIBES Awards attract interest from businesses throughout Scotland, so to be able to hold free events regionally that allow local organisations to hear directly from previous winners in their area is important to us. The awards not only allow businesses to find out more without feeling obliged to commit to anything but also offer networking opportunities for local companies to get together.”
