Press release: January 2022
Tech-led procurement expert BiP Solutions is hosting a free series of events this March to help prepare for upcoming changes in government practices.
‘GO Transforming Public Procurement Online’ is a series of half day virtual events, covering the latest on the Procurement Reform Programme.
The sessions will give vital insight into the government response to the December 2020 Green Paper.
A host of respected procurement experts will be speaking on the day, providing buyers with key information and analysis of the latest practices.
Presentations will be followed by a Q&A session where delegates can ask our experts for more information.
Who is speaking?
Speakers include Lindsay Maguire, Head of Engagement for Procurement Reform at the Cabinet Office, Adam Hill, Head of Transparency Systems at the Cabinet Office and Chris Smith from the Contracting Partnership.
The must-attend sessions will be chaired by Eddie Regan, Principal Consultant at BiP’s PASS Procurement service, and are split into sectors including Local Government, Central Government, Health, Education, and Housing.
Simon Burges, CEO of BiP Solutions, said: “I’m pleased to announce that throughout March 2022 we will be running a series of online events for the public procurement community to gain valuable insight into the feedback from the consultations, together with the Government responses and therefore what changes may need to be prepared for.
“I’d like to thank our valued event guest speakers including Lindsay Maguire, Adam Hill, Chris Smith and Eddie Regan. And I look forward to the insight we will gain.”
Why are these procurement changes happening?
This series comes as the public sector prepares itself for wide-ranging changes in procurement practices.
Following the UK’s exit from the European Union, government has seized upon the opportunity to implement a new procurement regime, moving away from EU rules and adopting a simplified approach.
This prioritises boosting growth and productivity in the UK, maximising value for money and social value, promoting efficiency, innovation, and transparency.
In December 2020, the Cabinet Office set out the proposals that will shape the future of public procurement legislation with the publication of a Green Paper, Transforming Public Procurement.
The overarching goals of these proposals are to speed up and simplify procurement processes, place value for money at their heart, generate social value and unleash opportunities for small businesses, charities and social enterprises to innovate in public service delivery.
With the public procurement community expecting to see these changes implemented from 2022, these events will be crucial in allowing buyers to prepare in advance.
Event Chair Eddie Regan said: “I’m delighted that we have guests of this quality who will help guide our attendees through the many changes that procurement reform will bring and I’m certain that everyone in the public procurement community will benefit from these online events.”
Provided by BiP Solutions, Government Opportunities (GO) hosts a range of leading events and award programmes focused on informing, recognising and showcasing the vital role of the UK’s public procurement marketplace.
