Aberdeenshire Council have been successful in securing £135,000 of grant funding from Transport Scotland’s 2016/17 Community Links programme and £50,000 from the Cycling Development Fund to support the Council’s ongoing Integrated Travel Town (ITT) project.
The ITT project, aims to develop active & sustainable transport schemes, and will help to enable everyday journeys to be made by bike or foot.
The funding, which will be matched by an additional £135,000 from Council budgets and £50,000 from Regional Transport Partner NESTRANS, will be used to undertake feasibility studies and design work for proposals identified through the ITT project.
Draft Masterplans can be viewed for comment on the Council’s dedicated ITT pages at https://aberdeenshire.gov.uk/roads-and-travel/transportation/integrated-travel-towns/ and in the above town’s libraries.
Director of Infrastructure Services, Stephen Archer, said:
“To have been successful in receiving this level of funding is testament to the hard work of Council officers and each of the communities who continue to drive the ITT project.
“News of the award couldn’t have come at a better time with consultation on the ITT Draft Masterplan proposals currently ongoing.
“I would urge all residents, workers and visitors in Ellon, Fraserburgh, Huntly, Inverurie and Portlethen, to grasp this fantastic opportunity to take part in this exciting project.”
