Highways suppliers invited to put their best foot forward

Highways England’s suppliers have the chance to showcase and share the great examples of performance and practices and also boost their profiles by putting themselves forward for a series of awards.Government Opportunities

The company is focused on three key imperatives: making our roads safer for all users including those who work on them, improving the experience of all road users and delivering the government’s Road Investment Strategy.

The awards, which are open to Highways suppliers at every level in the delivery chain, recognise companies who embody safety, customer service and delivery, and who are exemplars of collaboration, innovation and productivity.

Suppliers in direct and indirect contact with Highways England, including through joint ventures and the extended supply chain, can put themselves forward for an award. Highways England teams can also nominate suppliers/projects.

Entries are open from today until Wednesday 7 September 2016.

The eight key areas/categories of the scheme are:

  • building capacity and capability
  • customer experience
  • communities
  • delivering sustainable and environmental solutions
  • inclusion
  • managing down cost/improving value

safety, health and wellbeing, which includes:

  • public/road user safety
  • road worker safety
  • occupational health and wellbeing
  • supply chain management

Supply Chain Director, David O’Neil, said:

“A safe, serviceable, free-flowing network is essential and we are placing greater emphasis on putting safety first, clearing incidents within an hour and making sure our network remains available to traffic while we carry out improvements.

Our suppliers play a vital part in helping us to deliver our programme. They integrate various specialisms across the sector bringing all that knowledge and expertise together to get the physical work done out on the network.

We want as many of them as possible to nominate themselves so they receive the recognition they so rightfully deserve.”
