The procurement profession faces the challenges of increased efficiency, reduced budgets and doing more with less over the coming years. The procurement profession has already taken significant steps to improve procurement and its partnering activities such as commissioning and contract management in the quest for economy and efficiency, as procurement makes an increasing contribution to the delivery of better value public services.

The Society of Procurement Officers in Local Government (SOPO) Annual Conference and Exhibition 2011 will address the needs of the next generation of procurement activity as the procurement profession finds improved ways of doing things, adopting relatively new concepts such as category management and implementing them to good effect.

The SOPO Annual Conference and Exhibition 2011 will take place in Leeds, one of the country’s most vibrant and forward-thinking cities with a thriving business community, fantastic retail facilities and an incredible range of entertainment. It sits close to the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, an area which provides a striking contrast to the hustle and bustle of this busy city.

The Conference will explore the latest ideas and developments in best practice needed to meet the current challenges and take procurement further, using the next generation of procurement tools.

It will also provide you with the opportunity to absorb new ideas, discuss best practice and network with suppliers, colleagues and some of the leading thinkers and influencers in public procurement policy.
