Welcome

Over the past ten years, record levels of investment coupled with reform has generated real and enduring improvements in Britain's schools, hospitals and other public services. The 2008 Pre-Budget Report continues high levels of investment to improve public services, reprioritising spending to support the economy through the downturn, and announces an ambitious extension of its plans, to increase value for money in order to continue to improve public services in the years ahead.

The public sector currently spends approximately £175 billion a year on procuring the goods and services needed to deliver public services. Within this £175 billion, £70 billion is spent on common goods and services, that is a product or service which is purchased by more than one organisation.

SMEs have an important role to play in delivering these products and services and also driving the UK productivity growth forward.

This one-day conference will provide SMEs with an invaluable insight into the opportunities that exist through selling to the public sector and also an opportunity for delegates to hear the latest developments and initiatives within the marketing place such as the recently published Glover Review Accelerating the SME economic engine: Through transparent, simple and strategic procurement.

The 2008 Pre-Budget Report announces as part of the Government's fiscal stimulus bringing forward £3 billion of capital spending from 2010-11 into 2009-10 and 2008-09 Ensure your organisation is ready to participate within this lucrative marketplace.
