About
The public sector in the UK procures an estimated £170 billion worth of buildings, goods and services a year and emitting 30.4m tonnes of carbon. Although progress has been made on the sustainability agenda, there must be a consistent approach whereby all the policies and procedures implemented are filtered through to all areas of the public sector.
If the UK is to reach its goal of becoming a European leader in sustainability by 2009 we must take steps to think creatively about procurement - both about new approaches which can deliver better services and about ways that we can better achieve our sustainability and social goals.
Procurement is about more than just saving money.
A number of recent developments have kept sustainable procurement at the forefront of current issues in procurement practice including Costing the Future: Securing Value for Money through Sustainable Procurement, Buy and make a difference and the Centre of Expertise in Sustainable Procurement (CESP).
The Government Opportunities (GO) National Sustainable Procurement Conference and Exhibition 2009 will bring together the leading speakers on sustainable procurement and provide you with the opportunity to keep abreast of the latest technologies and innovations.
