About

The demands on public sector procurement have intensified in recent years; the Byatt Report, the National Procurement Strategy for Local Government and the Gershon Report have served to emphasise the importance of effective procurement in delivering high quality, value for money services.

Collaboration between buying organisations is a key strand in the national agenda, and can help us to achieve better results for all in the most efficient manner. We already enjoy the benefits of consortium purchasing in many areas, but the scope of goods and services covered will expand in the coming years, moving into new areas, including strategic critical categories of expenditure. Working together on professional development, process benchmarking and developing shared services can also pay huge dividends.

The LCSG’s 2006 conference, Efficiency Through Collaboration, will explore the challenges we all face, in an informative, challenging and entertaining way. While the event is aimed at London's public sector supply professionals, it naturally has a broad relevance to anyone concerned with understanding or improving public sector procurement thinking or practice.
