Professor
Christine Harland
Association President and Director, Centre for Research
in Strategic Purchasing and Supply, University of Bath
Christine’s
specialist field of research is strategic supply management.
Her particular interests include the development of the concept
of supply strategy, a holistic approach to supply networks,
formulation of strategy for supply networks, complex confederal
public sector supply networks, international comparative studies
of public procurement, the study of perceptions in supply
chains, focus and roles in supply chains, e-procurement, and
supply chain performance. She is Co-Director of the research
partnership with the NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency on supply
strategy in the health sector helping to innovate service
packages and redesign the supply network to serve end customers
better, and to deliver government objectives. She has been
Principal Investigator on a number of research projects including
the EPSRC-funded Inter-Organisation Networks project, the
E-business for SME Supply Chains project funded by the DTI
and BT and The Future Potential of E-Procurement within the
United Nations. Christine has co-authored two leading texts,
Operations Management and Cases in Operations Management and
was Editor of the Journal of Purchasing and Supply Management
from 2001 to 2004. She has been external examiner and ‘expert’
for the EPSRC on supply chain management, supply networks
and operations planning and control, and is the current President
of the Health Care Supply Association. |

John
Warrington
Director of Policy and Innovation,
NHS PASA
John
was made Head of Research and Innovation for NHS PASA on its
formation in April 2000, and was appointed a Director in January
2004, with responsibility for research and innovation and
national procurement for food, domestics and textiles categories.
His current role is Director – Policy and Innovation.
His span of control includes research, innovation, special
projects, communication and procurement policy for the NHS.
He has also recently taken on the responsibility for the roll-out
of the Collaborative Hub Programme. John is a member of CIPS
and holds an MBA from the University of Bath. |

Mark
Roscrow
Director, Welsh Health Supplies
Mark
joined the NHS in 1978, and has had a number of roles in procurement,
mainly in Wales. He took up his current role as Director of
Welsh Health Supplies in 1996, since when he has led a major
drive to ensure continuous improvement in the organisation
through the implementation of the EFQM model. Mark is a member
of the Procurement Board for Wales and the UK Four Nations
Strategy Group, and represents the NHS on a number of Welsh
Assembly forums. |

Bob
Dredge
Senior Fellow in Financial Management, Keele University Health
Services Management Centre
Bob, a graduate in economics and statistics and a qualified
accountant, has worked in health care and finance for over 20
years, holding positions such as Programme Manager for Financial
Reforms at the Department of Health and both Finance Director
and CEO in provider hospitals and commissioning organisations.
He has also spent some time in consultancy and teaching. Bob
is a former Chairman of HFMA UK, and is an active member of
his accountancy bodies’ Financial Management and Ethics
Committees. He has been an adviser to the House of Commons Health
Committee and has served on many NHS working groups, particularly
in the area of costing. He has also worked on World Bank financial
reform missions in Russia, Romania and Macedonia, and has written
two manuals on global budgeting for the bank. He is a Senior
Fellow at Keele University Health Services Management Centre,
and has links with the University of Kentucky. |

Jonathan
Wedgbury
Chief Executive, HPC (inc. West Midlands Procurement Alliance
and Lifesource CPH) and Chief Executive, North Central London
Collaborative Procurement Hub
In 2006
the HPC received a Highly Commended award for Team Procurement
Excellence at the annual GO (Government Opportunities) Excellence
in Public Procurement Awards. HPC was also shortlisted for
a Best Public Procurement Project award at the Chartered Institute
of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) Supply Management Awards 2006.
The CIPS Supply Management Awards are designed to celebrate
and reward excellence in the field of purchasing and supply
management. Previous to his work with HPC and North Central
London Collaborative Procurement Hub, Jonathan was Purchasing
Manager at Stoke on Trent Hospital, Purchasing and Supply
Manager at Leicestershire Community and Leicester Royal Infirmary,
Commercial Director of West Midlands Regional Health Authority,
and Purchasing Director at Birmingham Heartlands and Solihull
NHS Trust (Teaching). |
