This conference focuses on commissioning as a major pillar of the reforms. Commissioning is central to the Government’s vision for how the NHS will meet the challenges it faces. The first clinical commissioning consortia, known as Pathfinder Groups, are already taking responsibility for commissioning health care services in their local areas. |
| Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) will be supported by the NHS Commissioning Board to improve efficiency in commissioning and improve patient outcomes. Together with the revised roles planned for Monitor and the Care Quality Commission and, potentially, increased involvement by the private health care sector, commissioning will radically change the NHS and will have a significant impact on suppliers. |
| Suppliers to the NHS need to understand how commissioning of health care will work and what impact and opportunities the changes present for them to access new markets or add value. |
