The European Union Consolidated Public Procurement Directive sets out the legal framework within which all public procurement must be undertaken. This Directive is then transposed by each individual Member State into national law. The current EU Public Procurement Directive is 2004/18/EC and has been implemented within the UK through two new Regulations:
This event
is designed for both suppliers to and buyers within the public sector
to provide an overview of the Regulations and a more detailed consideration
of some of the key aspects affecting procurement processes and practices.
It will give guidance on how best to tender and procure compliantly
so that all parties affected by the Regulations can use them to their
benefit.

Society of Procurement Officers in Local Government (SOPO) represents
over 2400 local government procurement officers. Its aim is to support
and advise local authorities throughout England, Wales, Scotland and
Northern Ireland on all purchasing and supply matters of national or
general interest, and to represent its members on other bodies to promote
the Society and its aims.Through membership of SOPO, procurement officers
