Yorkshire Purchasing Organisation (YPO)

YPO is a member of the Pro5 Group of Professional Buying Organisations. The Pro5 Group have a combined purchasing power in excess of £2 billion and are set to offer local authorities outstanding deals in key markets following a historic agreement to work together.

Under these arrangements, the Pro5 Group will identify and promote the best deals for local authorities, including those offered by other professional buying organisations.

Established constitutionally as a joint committee of local authorities in 1974, the Yorkshire Purchasing Organisation operates under the aegis of the Local Authority (Goods and Services) Act 1970, and aims to provide a professional and cost-effective purchasing and supply service to customers in constituent and other authorities.

The largest formally constituted local authority purchasing consortium in the UK, YPO is governed by a management committee of elected representatives from the organisation's constituent authorities.
