Office of Government Commerce
The Office of Government Commerce (OGC) is an independent office of HM Treasury, established to help Government to deliver best value from its spending.
Building on work with local authorities, professional buying organisations and RIEPs to help them meet challenging efficiency targets, OGC works with the public sector to make it easier to achieve value for money.
We do this by:
- Encouraging collaboration across the wider public sector to deliver savings from spend on common goods and services
- Providing best practice procurement advice
- Sharing procurement tools, such as the contracts database which is a central register of pan-Government collaborative deals, and category-specific buying guides to help deliver best value and increase savings
- Promoting better use of eProcurement systems to improve efficiencies, including the use of eAuctions, eMarketplaces, procurement cards and eSourcing
- Increasing the uptake of collaborative strategies through strong links with professional buying organisations
- Improving management information on how much the public sector spends on common goods and services through an annual public sector expenditure survey
If you work in public sector procurement we can assist you to meet efficiency targets. We have procurement expertise in construction, energy, fleet, food, ICT, office solutions, professional services, travel and facilities management.
