Excellence in Public Procurement – shortlist announced
Source: BiP,
8 May 2007
The shortlist for the eagerly anticipated national Government
Opportunities (GO) Excellence in Public Procurement Awards,
celebrating the achievements of the UK’s most talented
procurement professionals, has been announced.
Following intense consideration from the GO Awards judging
panel, scores of entries have been reviewed and a final shortlist
created. With award categories recognising Individual Excellence,
Team Excellence, Sustainability, e-Government, Best Service,
Small Supplier Innovation and the work of Young Procurement
Professionals, only the very best nominations have made the
final list.
Finalists will be joined at the Awards – part of National
Public Procurement Practitioners Day (N3PD) 2007 - by keynote
speakers Sir Michael Lyons, Chairman of the BBC Trust and
author of the Lyons Inquiry; Dr Neil Bentley, Director of
Public Services at the Confederation of British Industry (CBI);
and Dr Vincent Cable, Shadow Chancellor and Deputy Leader
of the Liberal Democrats.
N3PD 2007 and the GO Awards ceremony, which take place in
central London on 6 June, are organised by BiP Solutions,
one of Europe’s leading providers of procurement information
services. N3PD is a unique date in the public procurement
calendar, when the public procurement community recognises
and celebrates the achievements of those who have striven
to make a difference in their work, and who in doing so have
contributed to smarter, more efficient procurement –
so benefiting the end-user and taxpayer.
Grahame Steed, Managing Editor of GO magazine, media partner
of N3PD, said the standard of this year’s entries was
phenomenal: “The overall standard has been very high
indeed, and choosing a shortlist of nominees was a very difficult
task for the judging panel.
“The shortlist reflects the very best practice
currently taking place in public procurement: the nominees
are all exceptionally talented and professional teams and
individuals, committed to achieving the most efficient methods
and best value for money for the taxpayer.”
Mr Steed added: “N3PD and the GO Awards are now
firmly established as one of the most prestigious events in
the sector. This prestige, combined with speakers of the calibre
of Sir Michael, Dr Bentley and Dr Cable, means it’s
easy to see why everyone is excited about N3PD.”
